H4P Organization’s Celebration of Love brings hope and support to Families Living with Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy (CP) is more than a medical condition—it is a lifelong challenge that reshapes the rhythm of daily life. Affecting movement, posture and muscle coordination, CP demands constant care and adaptation. For families in Ghana, this often means navigating feeding difficulties, communication barriers and mobility issues, while bearing heavy emotional and financial burdens.

Caregivers face recurring obstacles: stigma and isolation, limited access to information and services, high healthcare costs and the physical strain of lifting and moving children without adequate equipment or accessible transport. Healthcare professionals in Accra confirm these realities. Studies highlight systemic gaps—insufficient assessment spaces, medication shortages, and policies that do not fully accommodate CP care pathways. Stigma even discourages specialists-in-training from focusing on developmental disabilities, resulting in fragmented care and delayed interventions. Research further reveals high rates of malnutrition among children with CP, linking feeding challenges to poor nutritional status and reduced caregiver quality of life. These findings underscore the urgent need for accessible therapy, practical feeding guidance, and sustained social support.

Against this backdrop, the H4P (Here for Perfection) Organization, in partnership with Fire City Chapel, hosted the 7th Edition of its Celebration of Love Project on 10th December 2025—a transformative outreach dedicated to families of children with cerebral palsy under ShareCare Ghana and other Persons with Disability.Celebration of Love is more than an event; it is a mission of compassion and inclusion. Established in memory of Mrs. Christina Anansewa Hackman, mother of H4P’s CEO Bishop Charles Cofie Hackman, the initiative reflects her lifelong commitment to serving the disability community. Since its inception in 2023, Celebration of Love has impacted nearly 5,000 lives across Ghana, delivering medical care, essential supplies and emotional support to persons with disabilities and their caregivers.

In his address, Bishop Hackman urged caregivers not to lose hope but to remain steadfast in raising their children with love and dignity. He added that this year’s edition held special significance, coming shortly after the global observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3—a day that calls for renewed commitment to accessibility and respect for the rights of Persons with Disability. The outreach provided comprehensive medical services, including general health assessments, eye and dental screenings, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy—all administered by seasoned professionals. An on-site pharmacy supplied prescribed medications at no cost, and referrals were made for cases requiring further care. Beyond medical support, every caregiver received thoughtful gifts—a gesture of appreciation for their resilience and devotion.

The event drew notable guests, including Alexander Kojo Tetteh (President, Center for Employment of PWDs, Ghana Chamber for Entrepreneurs with Disability and Ghana Disability Forum) and Christopher Mawutor Agbega (ShareCare Ghana). Madam Emilia Gyenkel and Madam Hannah Awadzi (Inclusive Family Alliance), also special guests and mothers of children with cerebral palsy shared personal stories of perseverance, encouraging others to remain strong and add value to their lives despite the challenges.

Celebration of Love’s integrated approach—bundling screenings, therapy and dental care in one accessible setting—offers clinically meaningful benefits. It reduces missed appointments, shortens referral paths and addresses critical health needs early, making a tangible difference for families who often feel overlooked.

As the festive season approaches, the atmosphere of joy and gratitude at the event was unmistakable. Parents and caregivers left not only with medical support but with renewed strength and hope. Celebration of Love is a reminder that when communities unite in compassion, inclusion becomes more than a vision—it becomes reality.
